Gusar
12 km of Guba, there is a neighboring region, with its centre in Gusar. It is situated on the bank of the mountain river Gusar. In the north, Gusar region borders on Daghestan. Here, like in Guba region, you will enjoy the wonderful landscapes, mountain streams, running from thick forests. At the foot of the mountains there are a lot of piers (holy places) and historical monuments. The name «Gusar»  descends from the name of tribe «Hi-sar».
The warm sunny weather, the mountain air are the glory of Gusar. The region is covered with alpine meadows. It means that here is an abundance of dairy products of high quality, especially cheese.
The winter is good for those who like skiing; in summer – fascinating walks and the chances to ride are high; in autumn you may admire  autumn forests. The mountainous of Gusar, wonderful  forests,  Big Caucasus ridge create unique conditions for tourism. High in the mountains there are tourist routes. Mountain gorges have a great impression on tourists.
Acquaintance with historical monuments is recommended to start with the mosque and mausoleum of sheikh Juneyd (XVI) which was the grandfather of poet and shah Ismayil I Sefevi – the outstanding statesman and the founder of the Azerbaijan Sefevi state.
The monument is located in Khazri settlement. The architectural-archaeological monuments are preserved also in settlements Anykh, Gil, Imam-gulukend and etc.
Today Gusar known for hospitality, simplicity and sincerity of its people meets hundreds of tourists who are willing to open the natural beauty and significant historical and cultural heritage of this region. At present in the surroundings of the city several tourist centers, recreational centers and hotels are opened.
