Gabala
The ancient town of Gabala is located at the foothills of the Big Caucuses Mountains Chain, 230 kilometers to the North-West of Baku.  Gebele is at 470 meters over the sea level.
Gabala is one of the oldest and the most beautiful regions of Azerbaijan. The name of Gebele came from 'Old Gabala' town, which used to be the capital of Caucasian Albans in ancient times, but currently known as a historical monument. Gebele region is rich in beautiful natural landscapes. The territory is mainly MOUNTAINOUS. The borders from the North are joint to the Chain of Big Caucasian Mountains of Dagestan Autonomous Republic, the Central part is in Alazan-Heftaran plain, the Southern part is joint to Ajinohur mountains.
There are many RIVERS in Gabala. Among large rivers are Turyan-chay, Demiraparanchay ('iron gets washed away') and their branches joint to Gemervan, Tikanly, Bum, Hemzelly, Vendam rivers. A special beautiful place in Gebele is 'Nohur Gishlaq' water reservoir, known among local people as NOHUR LAKE, which is situated between Gullu-burun mountain and the Middle mountain.
The boats, floating on the lake will give you the opportunity to enjoy this unforgettable beauty. The most famous WATERFALLS of Gebele Muchuq (57 m), Yeddi Gozel (Seven Beauties) and Durja Waterfalls, having extraordinary combination of water, forest and mountains, can be irreplaceable places for recreation. Gebele (Kabalaka. Xabala)  was founded approximately 2500 years ago. The town had been the capital of Caucasian Albans for about 800 years.
Among such places are: Hezre tombs in Hezre village, the sanctuary of Shehper-baba in Soltan Nukha village, the sanctuary of Shikh-baba in Hemzelli village, the Bujag sanctuary in Sileyli village, Vlupir in Amirvan village, the Komrad sanctuary on the peak of Komrad mountain.
